Drew Linder's Cover Letter

To Whom It May Concern,

I was excited to see the opportunity open at your school. I am a hard working and self-determined person that can be an asset to your organization. I am always pushing myself to reach the next level of my career and to reach any goal set in front of me. Please find my resume attached and some information about my experience in education below.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Western Michigan University.  During my time at WMU, I completed five separate student teaching internships in which I worked with students in grades Pre-K through third. Post-graduation, I became a K-5 interventionist in Kentwood, Michigan. I worked with children in all grades, pulling small groups for interventions and substitute teaching when needed. In 2011, I moved to New Orleans to serve a new population in a similar support position at Langston Hughes Academy. The following year, I moved into a self-contained second grade classroom where I co-planned and taught all core subjects.

After four years at LHA, I moved out of the classroom to become Dean of Culture in a first year turnaround school. As part of the leadership team, my duties in this position include head disciplinarian, leader of school-wide culture and celebrations, second grade instructional coach, and parent and community outreach liaison. I have also worked closely with teachers and other members of the staff to help cultivate a positive school culture. I have created school-wide routines and procedures, planned and presented professional development for staff, and worked with teachers to create successful behavior plans for students with exceptionalities. Though I have had minimal experience in leadership, I feel that my experiences have given me a set of tools that can allow me to be successful in any new challenge I see ahead of me.

Sincerely,
Drew Linder
