Case study: Closing The Achievement Gap

Here, I worked with a group of students to research a school in Michigan to analyze the achivement gap presence in the school and the differences between ages, socioeconomic class, and race.

Invisible Privilege vs. Visible Oppression

I worked with a group of students on a presentation about different community events and the difference between the events and the target audience for those events. The idea is that some communities provide different services for different demographics of audiences.

Working With Defiance- Presentation

This is a presentation I created after conducting a semseter worth of data on one student and a challenging behavior they exhibited in school. I show my findings and the attempts I made to help the student with their behavior.

Working With Defiance- Paper

In line with the presentation below, this is a paper that I used to drive the presentation above and has more details and analysis about the student that I was observing.

Case Study: Rethinking Education

This is a case study I conducted on the educational landscape in New Orleans. I focused on the difficulty the city has had with education and how the city falls in comparison to other cities in the nation.

Interview Assignment

This is an analysis I did after interviewing students in a class I was teaching to gain an understanding of different science concepts we had learned over the course of a unit. The purpose was to gain a better understanding of how my students were thinking and what they understood.

Achievement Gap Research Paper

This was research I did using different articles and excerpts to conduct my research and analyze the trends that have happened over time with the achievement gap. Not only was the academic achievement gap a focus, but also the racial achievement gap.

Reading Guide

This is a reading guide I created to share with my class to help guide them through reading articles and a summary of the articles. I also created critical thinking questions to help guide a whole class discussion.

Showcase

Below you can find a link to a variety of different assignments I completed over the course of my Master's work. Each assignment involved aspects of creative problem solving and critical thinking that  helped push the boundaries of my learning. Below are different assignments I completed that involved critical thinking or creative problem solving to get to the final answer of the assignment.

Both creative problem solving and critical thinking are essential to becoming a strong educator. I broke up the assignments into these two categories so that readers can gain a better understanding of my work and what I did to complete the work to the best of my ability.

Critical Thinking

Each of these assignments involved a higher level of critical thinking in order to accomplish them.

Creative Problem Solving

The following assignments involved much more "outside of the box" thinking to solve the problems presented.
